Say hello to your new Barbie!
Since her introduction to the world in 1959, Barbie has been a reflection of the times, evolving alongside fashion trends, celebrities, and social movements.
But one thing that is not up to date is Barbie’s packaging. All those windows and twist ties and gloss coatings make the box and its components Non-recyclable. So we decided to give Barbie a little sustainability upgrade.
We created a package using recycled paperboard that both protects and showcases Barbie and all her accessories. Instead of plastic twist ties we used jute, a fully biodegradable and recyclable fiber made from plants. the box itself can be cut up and assembled into a pirate ship to further minimize waste. Get ready to embark on an exciting (and sustainable) adventure!
